The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), in its effort to make traffic smooth and steady on three insanely-busy junctions in Bengaluru, has proposed the used of grade separators. The junctions are namely Magadi Road, West of Chord Road and Adugodi-Sarjapura. Grade separators are mini-flyovers and underpasses. The total number of separators is now 14. BBMP had proposed 13 grade separators in June but later scrapped two. Now it has added three more.
The new proposal entails the construction of second level grade separators at West of Chord Road at Manjunath Nagar, a stretch between Audugodi and Sarjapura Road Junction on Hosur Road and at Sumanahalli Junction on Magadi Road. BBMP will soon be sending the proposal to the government for consideration in this year’s project itself.
“We had earlier proposed 13 grade separators at various junctions in the city. These junctions were identified by a consultancy. We have sent the proposal to government for approval. Later, we will include these grade separators in the next council budget. The total cost of proposal is Rs 421 crore,” a top BBMP official told BangaloreMirror.
The body will also reportedly share cost with the BMRCL for a grade separator on the Inner Ring Road at Central Mall Junction and Marenahalli Junction.
