South Western Railways has decided to start operations from Majestic and Ramanagaram to Whitefield in the mornings to help commuters from many parts of the city reach the downtown side of Whitefield where many a MNC’s work round the clock.
Since there is choc-a-block traffic in all parts of the city in the morning hours between 9 AM – 11 AM , the train will operate in the following schedule between Bangalore City Railway Station (Kranti Veera Sangolli Rayanna Station) and Whitefield.
Departure : 8:45 AM
Stops In Between : Cantonment, Bengaluru East, Byappanahalli, KR Puram and Hoodi stations enroute to Whitefield.
Arrival at Whitefield : 9:30 AM.
There is more good news.
A 360 crore budget has been drawn to convert 15 trains from Diesel Multiple Unit (DEMU) to Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU), This will enable a much faster turnaround time as well as increasing the passenger capacity from 1000 to 2500 per trip.
